My life running, serving and cooking!

Well about 2 months ago I went to Cleveland for the Fabulous Food Show! It was such an amazing experience and I will be going back in the spring! I wrote about it here, here and here. I also mentioned it in this post not meant to offend anyone here.

I promised a post about eating at Lolita, (Iron Chef) Michael Symon’s restaurant. So here it is!

The waiter just broke these off a really long loaf when you needed more. It was very crusty but pillowy on the inside. I am an inside eater but my mom likes crust, we are a perfect pairing!

Roasted bone marrow with garlic toasts. This was the dish we heard we must get. I had never had bone marrow, but I like trying new things! In the bites I got it was either too salty, too acidic or just to oily for my liking. I have not given up on bone marrow but I did not enjoy this.

This was a wood fire mushroom pizza. The crust was amazing, I love bubbles! They cooked it in huge ovens and the kitchen was in the middle of the small (50 person) restaurant so you could see and feel the heat. I respected the chefs very much because I know one day I may be in the same position. I am still young but next year I’m going to really start thinking about my life!

Seared sea scallops over pear-parsnip purée. It also had some almonds and a thick glaze like sauce. I could tell there was peppery parsnip but also a sweetness, so I asked. The waiter was very nice and knowledgeable and told me it was parsnip+pear. My only complaint was the scarcity of the purée. I would never had thought about pairing those two but Michael Symon is a genius! We got Lizzie's roasted chicken with salsa verde over chickpea purée but I have no picture.

Sweet potato gratin. This was really good, not too cheesy but hot and steamy! I would have liked more sweet potato but that’s probably because I love sweet potatoes!

Poached pear, vanilla gelato, chocolate bread pudding with salted caramels. When I ate a bite with all three parts it was so perfect with so many textures, temperatures and flavors!

So there you go! I’m sorry the picture quality is bad but the lighting was dim as always in most nice places! I’m sorry I took so long on it but I hope you liked it! I am going to LA in less than two weeks I need to get some reservations! Any LA eating recommendations!?

  1. Woah, that looks incredible!

  2. Everything looks great! I’m an inside eater like my dad :) My mom gets so angry when she finds my baked goods without a crust. Just the inside… Haha :D
